Belgium’s outgoing ambassador to Rwanda, Arnout Pauwels has said that he will never forget the good relations he had with government officials during his three-year service in the country.
Amb Arnout Pauwels made the remarks while bidding farewell to Senate President Bernard Makuza anf Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Donatille Mukabalisa on Tuesday.
“I created good relations with most of the institutions in the country, to foster cooperation between the two countries.” Amb said adding that “I express my gratitude to President Paul Kagame for his role in fostering and developing gender equality in Rwanda.”
“I appreciate the gender equality programs that were initiated in general. I was pleased to work with some of the institutions that valued gender issues.”
President of the Senate Makuza said that they discussed a number of key issues including continued maintaining of the good relations between the two countries as well as encouraging investment between the two countries.
Amb Pauwels has been on tour of duty in Rwanda since February 2014.
