The president of Senegal and the head of the council of head of sates from New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), Macky Sall has stressed the need to build citizens’ capacities in science and technology and put much emphasis in the distribution of electricity to exploit Africa’s opportunities.
He unveiled this during the launch of the session of heads of states in NEPAD as the 27th African Union summit is held in Kigali.
NEPAD was initiated in 2001 in the capital city of Zambia, Lusaka. It aims at providing baseline of economy rooted on cooperation and integration of African countries.
President Macky Sall has requested heads of states and government to promote industries as stimulus for development stating and noted it can’t be attained if the matter of electricity shortage is not addressed.
“We can’t attain targeted development without sustainable adequate electricity regardless of existing capacities .It is necessary to put much emphasis on electricity since industries wouldn’t progress without power,” he said.
Macky Sall said that Africa will only reach envisaged transformation when it focuses on development responding to citizens’ needs putting efforts in cooperation and countries’ integration as envisaged in Vision 2063.
The chairperson of African Union commission, Dr.Dlamini Zuma requested heads of state to bring private investors in the fold as a pillar for Africa’s development.
