The Minister of State in charge of Constitutional and Legal Affairs in the Ministry of Justice, Hon. Evode Uwizeyimana has noted that undermining genocide against Tutsi in 1994 has persisted, perpetuated by use of technologies with impunity.

The Minister who was delivering a paper in a cyber-security symposium organized by the senate, observed that genocide perpetrators living abroad are trying to sell their ideologies worldwide using the internet and other international IT-based platforms.

Uwizeyimana said that even convicts like Col.Theoneste Bagosora who is serving his time has got access to internet which he uses to no good end.

“We can’t assume we are fighting cyber-crime when people like Bagosora in his detention has internet access and can visit a newspaper to give comments,” he said.

Bagosora was handed a life sentence which was reduced to 35 year jail term on appeal.

He is serving term in Mali.
