Defence Minister receives the Belgian Ambassador to Rwanda

On 18 January 2017, the Belgian Ambassador to Rwanda, HE Arnout Pauwels paid a courtesy call on Honourable Minister of Defence, Gen James Kabarebe, at Defence Headquarters, Kimihurura. The diplomat was accompanied by the Belgian Defence Attaché to Rwanda, Lt Col Alain Lambert.

The visiting delegation discussed with Gen Kabarebe issues related to the existing Defence Cooperation between the Kingdom of Belgium and Rwanda, and how that cooperation can be extended. They further exchanged on regional and continental security matters. On this subject, Ambassador Pauwels extended to Hon Minister Kabarebe the deep appreciation of Belgium for the role Rwanda plays in different UN Peacekeeping Missions on the Continent.

The call ended with HE Ambassador Pauwels thanking Hon Minister of Defence, Gen Kabarebe for the warm welcome he was offered and his delegation. Both sides pledged to increase in future such direct interactions, at different levels.
