DIGP Marizamunda visit Police peacekeepers in Haiti

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenal Marizamunda has commended Rwandan Police peacekeeper in Haiti for their resilience and professional focus to their mission.

The DIGP, who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Finance, Assistance Commission of Police (ACP) Vincent Sano, made the remarks recently while visiting the Rwanda Formed Police Unit (RWAFPU7) serving under United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH).

The visit aimed at assessing the status of the peacekeepers following the recent hurricane Mathew which affected their mission area.

He delivered the message from the Rwanda National Police (RNP) leadership and briefed them on the recent change in the force tutelage including the move from former Ministry of Internal Security to the Ministry of Justice.

He pledged continued support but challenged them to uphold the professional values, dignity and discipline.

DIGP Marizamunda commended them for enduring the challenges and staying focused and lauded the effort and courage they exhibited in offering humanitarian assistance to Haitians particularly those affected by the Hurricane.

He later held talks with MINUSTAH Police Commissioner.
