The National Electoral Commission has met candidates competing to replace late senator Mucyo Jean de Dieu as elections day gets closer. Senator Mucyo Jean de Dieu died early October 2016 after collapsing at the parliamentary buildings from where he was rushed to King Faisal Hospital where he died on arrival.
Candidates whose applications to replace Mucyo have been accepted include Dr Masabo François, a lecturer at the University of Rwanda; Mukakabera Monique, Mukamuganga Veneranda , Muhimakazi Félicité and Dr. Sezibera Richard who was the Secretary General of East African Community.
The National Electoral Commission said via twitter account, it yesterday received submissions and met the five candidates competing to replace late senator Mucyo Jean de Dieu to discuss on guidelines of elections campaigns.
Richard Sezibera is not new in politics. He was once a parliamentarian for five years, served as Rwanda’s ambassador to US, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.
Dr Sezibera also served as the Minister of Health.
Campaigns will start from 21st to end 30th November 2016 the date preceding elections day.
Preliminary results of the winning candidate are expected to be announced on 6th December 2016 while definitive outcomes will be released on 13th December 2016.
