Earthquake hits Rusizi and Nyamasheke again

Earthquake has again hit Nyamasheke and Rusizi districts early this morning around 1:00 am and ravaged three buildings. Local leaders have not yet established the value of damaged property.
Residents scampered as they fled their homes to avoid being victims of the earthquake. A one Kubwimana says; “It was a heavy earthquake that I, my wife and children run out of the house. We got back inside the house after five minutes,” he has told IGIHE.

The executive secretary of Kamembe sector, Ntivuguruzwa Gervais has said that they have not yet established the value of properties damaged by the earthquake but three buildings have been confirmed ravaged.

“We are to inspect properties ravaged by the earthquake. No person has been injured during the earthquake, “he said.

The previous earthquake of 23rd September, 2016 killed one child leaving 19 people injured in Rusizi district.
