Governance Month launched

The Minister of Local Government (MINALOC), Francis Kaboneka, has asked Nyabihu residents to maximize benefits of availed development activities and road infrastructures.

He conveyed the message yesterday as he launched Governance Month at national level in Vunga center, Shyira sector, Nyabihu district of Northern Province.

“The developments you witness and the roads constructed are a result of the taxes you pay. You are required to maximize their benefits so that you earn, pay taxes to be used in building other roads in many parts of the country,” he said.

Kaboneka urged Rwandans to support government development programs, leave disaster prone zones and develop planned settlements in villages to facilitate easy connection to utilities and social amenities.

The CEO of Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), Prof. Shyaka Anastase noted that citizens’ participation in governance contributes to the advancement of development.

“The Governance Month activities have brought transformations in governance and development of people. This year, in has particular, has seen implementation of programs that have resulted into self reliance among Rwandans, citizens’ involvement in governance and resettling people from disaster prone zones to villages,” he said.

Nyabihu district where the Governance Month was held yesterday emerged the 23th among 30 districts in contract performance of 2015/2016.
