The District Police Commander of Huye, Supt. Jean Marie Vianney Karegeya has called on commercial motorcyclists operating in the district to be special partners in crime prevention and detection through sharing of information on suspected criminals.

The DPC also appealed to the motorcyclists to put forwards their lives and that of others while riding on roads by respecting traffic rules.

He made the remarks on October 5 in Ngoma Sector where he met with commercial motorcyclists organized under their cooperative – CIM.

“We have partnered together in various activities like promoting sports and other socio-economic development events like Umuganda and taking part in awareness campaigns against crimes; we should take this partnership further against drug abuse and all sorts of crimes,” Supt. Karegeya said.

“It’s so unfortunate that there are some motorcyclists, who carry more than one person; there is also a tendency of some of your colleagues, who carry about three school children, a dangerous act that should stop,” he added.
