The director of Kibirizi Hospital, Faustin Ngaboyeka and the director of finance and administration at the hospital, Kamuzinzi John have been remanded in Karubanda prison over alleged misappropriation of Rwf 202 million.
Kibirizi hospital is located in Gisagara district.
The chairperson board of governors, Muyenzi Robert has told IGIHE that the audit results indicated that the duo misused public funds.
“They have been arrested over misuse of public funds as per the audit findings indicated that both individuals didn’t detail how Rwf 202 million were spent,” he said.
Muyenzi explained that Dr Faustin Ngaboyeka and Kamunzinzi John are held at Karubanda prison where they have been for three days.
IGIHE has learnt that more employees suspected of conspiracy in misallocating the Rwf 202 million went missing but the police spokesperson in Southern Province; CIP André Hakizimana has denied the reports.
“It is not true that some people went missing. We are undertaking investigations. We don’t give out names of people under investigation since it would hamper the process,” he said.
The former director of Kibirizi Hospital, Dr Ndagijimana Sylvestre was in 2015 accused of misappropriating public property including an ‘echographie’ whereof he was convicted and handed a seven-year sentence.
