A man in Mutete sector of Gicumbi district has been arrested with forged notes of Rwf 638,000.
The man originating from Karongi was identified on Tuesday by Mutete residents as he tried to give them fake notes.
The police spokesperson in Northern Province, IP Gasasira Innocent has told IGIHE that the man is under police custody.
“He was arrested in Gaseke center near Kajevuba with forged Rwf 638,000. He comes from Karongi district,” he said.
IP Gasasira said that the man is held at Byumba police station.
If found guilty of the crime of money forgery, the man is subjected to a punishment ranging from two to five years of imprisonment and pay a fine multiplied from two to ten folds of the value of seized fake money as per article 604 of Rwanda Penal Code.
