The former Minister of Internal Security, Sheikh Musa Fazil Harerimana has handed over the responsibilities of the Ministry of Internal security (MININTER) to the Ministry of Justice (MINIJUST) with which it was merged following the recent cabinet reshuffle made on 4th October, 2016 where some ministries were phased out.

Responsibilities of MININTER were shifted to MINIJUST while the Ministry of East African Affairs was merged in the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

During the handover ceremony held today, the outgoing minister of MININTER, Sheikh Harerimana has said that the reforms demonstrate country’s progress.

He explained that merging some activities of MININTER in MINIJUST was not extra ordinary since many activities were executed together.

“The prison is Alpha of justice while Police is Omega. Justice comes in the middle. Today, these entities are merged and they were united,” he said.

The Minister of Justice, Johnston Busingye has pledged good coordination of activities in MINIJUST.
