The incident has taken place in Kibungo sector this morning as Nzabonimana was caught with seven stolen laptops he picked from a Ministry of Education vehicle as they were being transported to Gahima School.

The police spokesperson in Eastern Province, IP Emmanuel Kayigi has told IGIHE that the suspected thief was already on a wanted list suspected to be among gangsters that break into people’s houses, shops and stealing passengers’ luggage.

He explained that Nzabonimana tried to resist police arrest before shooting him dead.

“After arresting the suspect, he led officers to the den where he keeps his loot but along the way attacked them trying to stab them with a knife he carried. He was, in the process, shot dead,” he explained.
