Oda Gasinzigwa replaces Bazivamo in EALA

The former Minister of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF), Oda Gasinzigwa has been elected a member of parliament of East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) after obtaining 71 votes, beating Kanamugire Callixte working at the Rwanda Patriotic Front expatriate who got only 4 votes.

She has been voted today during the General Assembly that brought together 24 senators and 52 MPs.

Oda Gasinzigwa has replaced Christophe Bazivamo who recently resigned from the position of Deputy Secretary General to the East African Community (EAC) in charge of administration and finance.

Both candidates were given five minutes for campaign before senators and MPs as granted by law.

Oda Gasinzigwa born in 1967, married with four children and holds a Masters Degree Social Sciences and Development.

Gasinzigwa will finalize the five year term Bazivamo started in 2012 to end in June, 2017.
