As part of the continuous campaign to actively involve the public in crime prevention through community policing, police in Musanze District have asked students of Busogo secondary school to reject and report all unlawful acts.

While meeting the students, Inspector of Police (IP) Viateur Ntiyamira, the District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), commended the role of the youth in anti-crime awareness and crime prevention, urging them to be exemplary in whatever they do, be it at school or in their communities.

The sensitization campaign mainly focused on desisting and fighting illicit drug and refraining from taking alcoholic drinks, which is prohibited to anyone aged below the age of 18.

“The government programmes through universal education, small income generating activities and many others are meant to give you a window to a better future. Pursue that and equally be custodians of the law by embracing crime prevention initiatives by reporting anyone you suspect to be connected to any wrongful act,” IP Ntiyamira said.

He further asked them to report all acts of gender based violence and child abuse.

Students later formed an anti-crime club as part of their resolutions to partner with the police in the awareness and crime prevention strategy.
