Rwanda Defence Force Army Chief of Staff (ACOS), Maj Gen Jacques Musemakweli on 16 September 2016 concluded a five day visit to the Central African Republic (CAR).

During his visit, on 13 Sept 2016 the ACOS paid a courtesy call on Maj Gen Sidiki D Traore, Deputy Force Commander of the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA). Gen Musemakweli interacted also with Commanders and Staff of Rwandan contingents (from RDF and RNP) serving under MINUSCA.

Before concluding his visit on 16 Sept 2016, the ACOS met the Rwabatt3 men and women at their Base Camp Socatel M’Poko in Bangui, the CAR capital City. In his remarks to the contingent, Gen Musemakweli commended the good performance, professionalism and discipline of the Rwanda Peacekeepers serving under the MINUSCA, and asked them to keep the Rwandan flag high.

“As RDF we ask you to continue in that direction, avoiding in particular any sexual exploitation and abuse behaviour that would spoil the country’s reputation as well as yours. I further urge you to keep in mind that as UN peacekeepers your primary role remains an efficient protection of civilians’’, Gen Musemakweli advised the Rwandan Contingent.

After the Army Chief of Staff’s remarks, Rwabatt soldiers interacted with him extensively and the meeting was concluded by a session of songs and dance (morale), as it is traditional in the RDF culture.

The RDF Army Chief of Staff was leading a delegation composed of the Special Operations Force Commander, Brig Gen Innocent Kabandana, the RDF Head Legal Department/CDS Legal Advisor, Lt Col René Ngendahimana, the director of training RDF HQs Lt Col Emmanuel Ruzindana, among others.
