The Northern Region Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sam Rumanzi has urged members of Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing (RYVCP) in the region to be more vigilant and active in crime prevention by sensitizing the public to report crimes in real time.
He challenged the youths during a meeting that drew 56 members of RYVCP from Rulindo District on October 19.
He urged them to be patriots, advance national values and be men and women of integrity.
“You should be the eye and ears of police wherever you are but don’t stop at this, encourage more people especially those in your generation and communities to join your good cause of crime prevention,” he said.
“Your contribution to wiping out crimes like drug abuse, domestic violence and human trafficking is of great importance, and this requires continuous engagements with the people at all ages and levels to ensure a lasting solution to safety and security,” said CSP Rumanzi.
Speaking at the same meeting, the Mayor of Rulindo, Emmanuel Kayiranga also appealed to the youth volunteers to be vigorous and cooperate with all local authorities in ensuring public safety and welfare of the people.
“We will provide you with all the necessary support to ensure you deliver on you ambitions,” said the Mayor.
The coordinator of RYVCP in Rulindo, Philbert Abayigamba pledged on behalf of his colleagues to work even harder in ensuring that no incident goes unreported.
