Members of Rwanda Patriotic Front Inkotanyi political party have stressed the need to organize military exercises for the youth completing secondary school education as a way of strengthening security for the nation.
The call was made yesterday during the general assembly of RPF in Gisenyi sector where members discussed ideas to be included the in RPF plan from 2017 to 2024.
Similar meeting were also held in other sectors of Rubavu district.
“Rwanda has problems related to consequences of colonization.Offering military knowledge to the youth would enhance patriotism among future leaders of Rwanda with capacity to protect the integrity of the nation, “said the president of RPF Inkotanyi in Gisenyi sector, Sheikh Kibata Abdul.
Sinamenye Jéremie, the mayor of Rubavu and RPF chairman in Rubavu district expressed his wish for the youth to be trained in military exercises adding that RPF members requested for a police station and a health center in each cell as well as military training for secondary school leaving so they can be on standby to intervene in security maintenance is case unusual instabilities arise,” he said.
RPF members in Gisenyi sector also requested the government to renovate Gisenyi hospital and build cell administration offices as many of them operate in rented houses. They also raised issues of intensifying decentralization program and having village leaders holding at least a secondary school certificate.
Ideas shared from various sectors will be sent to RPF district leadership expected next week from where they will be taken to province and national levels to guide representative of RPF Inkotanyi during the campaign for next year’s presidential elections.
