A delegation of Rwanda Defence Force led by Brig Gen Dr Ephraim Rurangwa on 7 September 2016 visited the family of late Mbarushimana Theogene. On 4 September 2016 night, the 18 years old young man was severely injured on the head by Maj Dr Aimable Rugomwa Mupenzi, and later died from the injuries. The incident took place in Rubirizi Cell, Kanombe Sector, Ditsrict Kicukiro.

“On behalf of the Rwanda Defence Force, we have come here to offer our heartfelt condolences to your family and to tell you that the RDF profoundly regrets the unfortunate incident that took the life of your son”, Brig Gen Rurangwa said.

Gen Rurangwa further noted that the suspects (Maj Dr Aimable Rugomwa and his accomplice elder brother, Nsanzimfura Mamerto) were immediately after arrested, and that investigations are underway so that they can be brought before justice.

Gahutu Jean Pierre, Mbarushimana’s uncle told the Media that he has confidence in Justice and that the Military Justice will hold the suspects accountable. He appreciated the RDF gesture of comforting his family as well as the fact that the suspects were arrested, which "is a good sign that justice will be rendered to our family”.

The RDF Delegation that visited the family of the deceased included among others Brig Gen Ephraim Rurangwa, in charge of Administration and Personnel at RDF Hqs and Brig Gen Emmanuel Ndahiro, Rwanda Military Hospital Commandant.

Mbarushimana Theogene was laid to rest on 6 September 2016 at his home family in Gicumbi. May the soul of late Mbarushimana Theogene rest in eternal peace!
