Kigali, Rwanda, December 9th, 2016 - Seedstars World (SSW), the global seed-stage startup competition for emerging markets and fast-growing startup scenes, is hosting Seedstars Africa, the second edition of the annual Africa Summit that connects African entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship ecosystems with the world and between each other. After hosting competitions in 20 African countries throughout 2016, identifying the most promising startups and analyzing the local ecosystems. Seedstars World is now bringing together the best and most promising entrepreneurs with ecosystem players, mentors, investors, corporates and other entrepreneurs across the continent.
The event is supported by Microsoft, Intel, the Ministry of ICT, kLab, the ICT chamber of Rwanda, Africa 2.0 and Brussels Airlines.
The summit will feature prominent speakers such as Aphrodice Mutangana, CEO of kLab, Hitendra Naik, Director for Innovation at Intel Africa & Middle East, Clement Uwajeneza, CEO at Rwanda Online, Djiba Diallo, Startup Engagement Lead at Microsoft 4Afrika as well as Seedstars Ambassadors and startups from over 15 African countries.
The event will last for three days and is culminating on December 9th with a full day Conference and Pitch event bringing together more than 300 startup founders, successful entrepreneurs, investors, decision makers and ecosystem leaders from across Africa and around the world to share insights, explore investment and collaboration opportunities and discuss how African startups can scale beyond their home markets and become global businesses. The conference will showcase success stories of entrepreneurs who scaled successfully and look into the success factors as well as the elements that still need to be improved in order to allow an African startup to scale and compete on a global stage. Speakers will come from across the world, including Africa, Europe, MENA and the US.
Prior to the the Conference, Seedstars World will host a 2 day invite-only Bootcamp, over 40 startups (All winners from the 2016 Seedstars World competition across the continent and 20 Rwandan startups) will work with world-class local and international mentors on improving their business models, working on their growth strategy and mastering the investor pitch. Mentors and investors will come from across Africa, Europe, the US and the MENA region. In addition to that, this year’s program will also give entrepreneurs the opportunity to be selected for the Seedstars Growth program, a seed investment that comes together with a 4 month acceleration program for early stage startups.
