Over Tigo Rwanda 40 staff members and freelancers, led by Tigo CEO Philip Amoateng, joined over three thousand Kigali members of various Kigali youth groups in clearing the bushes in Nyandungu wetland during the Umuganda communal cleaning exercise on Saturday 27, August.

The Nyandungu wetland is located in Gasabo District, Kigali City.

Umuganda is a monthly communal cleaning exercise that takes place nationwide on the last Saturday of every month. All Rwandans and foreign residents are encouraged to come together to clean their local communities and neighborhoods.

Lauding the Umuganda exercise, Tigo Rwanda CEO Philip Amoateng said; “We are happy to be part of such a good initiative. As members of the Rwandan community, we should only ask how much our society can do for us but how much we can do for our society. As a company, we believe in actively giving back to our community."

The Vice Mayor of Kigali in charge of social affairs, Judith Kazayire, who led the exercise, thanked Tigo Rwanda for being an active member of the Kigali City community.

In addition to participating in this month’s exercise, Tigo Rwanda provided refreshments for the Umuganda participants.
