36,588 new subscribers joined Tigo Rwanda in the month of December 2016, bringing the number of Tigo Rwanda subscribers to over 3, 250,000 users in total.

According to figures from the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA), among telecom operators Tigo Rwanda made the largest gains in the month of December, 2016.

In addition to the gains made by Tigo Rwanda in December 2016, RURA figures reveal that, among all telecoms, Tigo Rwanda gained the most customers in 2016, adding over 150,000 new subscribers.

Tigo Rwanda currently enjoys a market share of 36.5%.

Commenting on the gains, Jean BoscoNkusi, Tigo Distribution Manager said;
“Our positive subscriber growth is a testament to not only the growth of customer confidence in the quality services we offer, such as the fast Data and Tigo Cash mobile financial services but also the highly motivated sales and distribution team that we have on the ground. We have been able to lead market growth in 2016 and we are working towards becoming the market leader by the end of 2017”.

As an example of the support that Tigo Rwanda gives to its Sales and Distribution team, Tigo Rwanda last year handed over 23 brand new TVS motorcycles to nine distribution team leaders as a way of thanking them for their exemplary work in ensuring that every Rwandan in the country was able to access Tigo products when they needed them, no matter where they lived and worked.

One of the recipients was a 25-year old Shabani Nkomejekuyisenga, a resident of Nyanza District, Southern Province. Nkomejekuyisenga has worked for Tigo Rwanda for five years.

“I was given this motorcycle because of the trust that Tigo has in my ability to distribute products in a very big area. Now I will be able to go to areas I wasn’t able to access. I am very thankful to Tigo”, Nkomejekuyisenga said while happily receiving the keys for his motorcycle.
