Two drown in Rwamagana reservoir

Two male teenagers aged between20-24 were found dead days after drowning in a water reservoir from which water is drawn to irrigate crops in Kigabiro Sector, Rwamagana, Eastern Province.
The deceased are reported to have drowned on July 29th, but their bodies were discovered two days later in the reservoir.
Police spokesperson in Eastern Province IP Jean Bosco Dusabe has told IGIHE that the two deceased teenagers have been identified as Emmanuel Kabandana, 20 and Martin Barayavuga, 24. (...)

Two male teenagers aged between20-24 were found dead days after drowning in a water reservoir from which water is drawn to irrigate crops in Kigabiro Sector, Rwamagana, Eastern Province.

The deceased are reported to have drowned on July 29th, but their bodies were discovered two days later in the reservoir.

Police spokesperson in Eastern Province IP Jean Bosco Dusabe has told IGIHE that the two deceased teenagers have been identified as Emmanuel Kabandana, 20 and Martin Barayavuga, 24.

He said, “They drowned three days ago, but the bodies were recovered on Wednesday and were immediately buried. The two were said to be experienced in swimming the fact that reservoir was man made, they must have been swimming from the deeper end.”

IP Dusabe further added that they used some of the experienced swimmers and boats from the area to recover the bodies.

The Kimpima reservoir is located between Munyaga Sector and Kigabiro is used by farmers to irrigate crops.
