Two Nyagatare officials arrested over bribery

Security personnel have arrested the labor inspector and human resources manager of Nyagatare district after being caught red handed soliciting bribery.

They were all arrested on Tuesday July 25th, 2016 in Nyagatare sector of Nyagatare district in Ryabega.

It is said that they solicited the bribery worth Rwf 330,000 from a person promising him to get a job in Nyagatare district.

They promised to leak exam questions early to the person they solicited bribery from who informed police about the plan.

The mayor of Nyagatare district, Mupenzi George has told IGIHE that two Nyagatare district employees have been arrested is aware of the cause.

“We will follow up to establish the cause. They were arrested when I was not present. No other district official was with them by the time they were arrested. We were in a meeting outside the district,” he said.

The police spokesperson in Eastern Province, IP Emmanuel Kayigi said that the duo are in police custody at Nyagatare police station as they wait to be prosecuted.
