Thierry Manzi has committed his future to Rayon Sports FC by signing a contract extension until 2019 after snubbing advances from arch-rivals APR FC.
Speculation regarding the mid-fielders’ future with the 2017 league champions had been rife in recent weeks, but he will remain with Rayon until 2019.
APR FC was among the Azam Premier League sides linked to the 22-year-old but the former Marines FC man will not be plying his trade with Rayon for the next two seasons.
Manzi had been touted as the potential replacement for Michel Rusheshangoga who left the army team for Singida FC of Tanzania on a lucrative deal.
The club is said to have paid him Rwf 12 million according to deal on top of a salary wage of Rwf 500,000 month.
Manzi assisted Rayon to lift the 2016/2017 Rwanda national league title and has appeared in the 2018 qualifiers of the CHAN match against Tanzania. He now joins the other players that include Ange Mutsinzi, Abdoul Rwatubyaye, Gabriel Mugabo and Francoise Mugisha who play in the same position.
Meanwhile, the Malian striker AlassaneTamboura who is also touted as the replacement of Moussa Camara arrived in Kigali on Thursday.
The 20-years-old Malian from AS Bamako is said to sign a two-year contract with Rayon on before the end of Thursday, according to club spokesperson and secretary general Olivier Gakwaya.
