The newly appointed Police FC coach, Innocent Seninga believes his team is ready for the challenge in the forthcoming pre-season tournament and the new national league season.
“We have been training hard for the last one month and the players’ spirit in high; I have a team composed of only Rwandans and talented young players, which places us in a better side either in the tournament or national league,” Seninga said.
Police FC is in group B alongside Rayon Sports, Mukura VC and Kiyovu in the eight-team pre-season tournament organized by AS Kigali and scheduled to be played between September 6 and 16.
Other clubs to take part in the competition are DR Congo’s AS Vita Club and Dauphins Noir.
Meanwhile, Police FC played a friendly match with Miloplastic on Friday morning, beating the second division side 7-0.
It was Seninga’s first match as the manager of the law enforcers.
Prolific midfielder Japhet Imurora scored a hat-trick; striker Isaie Songa grabbed a brace while Eric Ngendahimana and Mouhamed Mushimiyimana completed the scoring list.
Isonga and Ngendahimana scored one goal each to make it 2-0 before the break, but the recharged and determined police scored five times in the second period.
“We are playing offensive game and the players are depicting our slogan – Unity is Strength. There is also big competition within the team…with at least three players in each position, it creates competition as each player wants to be undisputed and this makes them aggressive and determined,” Seninga said.
The law enforcers have so far signed eight new players, namely; Justin Mico, Amini Mwizerwa, Hussein Habimana, goalkeepers Danny Nduwayo; Milafa Nizeyimana left back Celestin Ndayishimiye, Jean Bosco Akayezu and Antoine Dominique Ndayishimiye.
