Hanga Umurimo Program Recieves 16,000 Business Proposals

The Minister of Trade and Industry François Kanimba has said Rwanda has made tremendous progress in different programs including Hanga umurimo.
The Minister of Trade commended financing institutions that are committed to helping projects under Hanga umurimo program to access loans.
Statistics show that Hanga Umurimo recorded about 16,000 projects and about 12, 407 youth trained in different practical skills were awarded with start-up kits through leasing facilities negotiated with BPR. (…)

Statistics show that Hanga Umurimo recorded about 16,000 projects and about 12, 407 youth trained in different practical skills were awarded with start-up kits through leasing facilities negotiated with BPR.

launched late last year, The program is a test to see whether the model could help in government’s efforts to create millions of off-farm jobs in eight years.

So far there are over 16,000 business proposals.

Only 261 projects were approved and about 61 projects worth Rwf 1,270,403,544 were financed and the 61 projects generated 1,435 jobs.

The Government’s annual job creation target is about 200,000 jobs per year as pledged in President Kagame’s 7-year plan which should see a total of about 1.5 million jobs created by end of his term.
