Husband suspected of murdering wife, on the run

Eustochie Ntakirutimana, the headmistress of Groupe Scolaire Kabere in Kimonyi sector of Musanze district has been murdered and his husband, Jean de Dieu Ndahayo who went into hiding after the death is suspected of committing the crime.

IGIHE has learnt that the incident took place around 7 pm yesterday.

The body of the deceased has been found in their house with some parts of the body chopped off.

Musanze district vice mayor for economic affairs, Marie Claire Uwamariya said the husband of the deceased, a one Ndahayo is suspected to have committed the murder and has since gone into hiding.

“The executive secretary of Kimonyi sector informed us that residents alerted her of a husband who killed his wife. We went to the crime scene with the mayor to assess the situation. Upon arrival, the door was locked so we broke it to get inside,” she said.

“The suspected killer has even mutilated the body. He chopped off her breasts and stabbed her on the belly and the cheek,” added Uwamariya.

It is alleged that the husband killed her wife because she was infertile having failed to produce since they got married ten years ago.

Hunting the suspect is on and the body has been taken to Ruhengeri hospital for postmortem.
