Rwanda Cycling Cup goes to Rubavu with ‘Kivu Race’

Rwanda Cycling Cup 2019 will continue in Rubavu district with ‘Kivu Race’ stage on Saturday 21st September where cyclists will make laps along a 7.5 km route.

Organized by Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY), Rwanda Cycling Cup is sponsored by Cogebanque and Skol. Kivu circuit follows the Rwamagana circuit held early September.

Riders will follow the track from Gisenyi market- Cogebanque branch – ADEPR – Betel Majengo– Aéroport – Station OM – Dépôt SKOL – Lancet Laboratories – Parquet –Stones coated road – SONARWA –Rubavu district headquarters – Mostej Hotel – Hospital La Croix Du Sud – Station Kobil – Isoko Rya Gisenyi.

Riders in women category will make 12 laps totaling to 90 km, junior men make 15 laps (112.5 km) will Men Elite men & U-23 will make 20 laps (150 km).

11 teams to compete in Kivu Race include Fly Cycling Club, Les Amis Sportifs, Cycling Club For All , Benediction Club, Muhazi Cycling Generation, Karongi Vision Sport Center, Kigali Cycling Club, Nyabihu Cycling Team, Kayonza Young Stars Cycling Team, Ciine Elmay and Bugesera Cycling Club participating for the second time following Rwamagana Circuit.

Bonaventure Uwizeyimana won the first stage of Rwanda Cycling dubbed ‘Northern Challenge’ held in Musanze district in July while his teammate, Yves Nkurunziza from Benediction Excel Energy won the second held in Kigali city.

The 3rd stage was won by Moïse Mugisha of the SKOL Fly Cycling Club.

All the previous winners won’t participate in the race scheduled over the weekend as Bonaventure Uwizeyimana went to the United States of America, Nkurunziza Yves is undertaking training in Monaco while Mugisha Moïse is being trained in Sables Vendée team from France.

The annual Rwanda Cycling Cup was launched in 2015.
