VIP Lounge launched at Kigali International Airport

Radisson Blu Hotel and Convention Centre in partnership with Akagera Aviation have launched a VIP Lounge at the Kigali International Airport.

The launch of the VIP Lounge at Kigali International Airport was attended by different entrepreneurs in the air transport services and tourism sector as well as officials.

The facility provides a comfort zone for waiting passengers as well as Meet and Greet services. It has a VIP lunch space, 4G internet, where first-class travelers can plug their laptops.

The Chief Executive of Akagera Aviation, Patrick Nkulikiyimfura, said that the aim is to contribute to the branding of Visit Rwanda.

“Our very first aim is to contribute to the promotion of the branding of Visit Rwanda; the second is enhanced partnership with investors. Our job mainly relates to the transport of people but we partnered with hotels to improve passengers’ experiences,” he said.

“We have had a meet and greet service for the last five years and bringing clients that fly with us. So, we sought how to make their first impression a great experience,’’ added Nkulikiyimfura.

First classes visitors will be received in the VIP lounge as they are waiting for their documents to be processed by the migration office.

The General Manager of Radisson Blu Hotel & Convention Centre, Kigali, Denis J. Dernault, said that this launch is a huge step in giving good service to Kigali visitors.

“These facilities will be giving a good first impression of Rwanda to our visitors. There will be functioning twenty-four/seven, offering meals and refreshments. We are building something that will make people want to come back in Rwanda for traveling and tourism and more,” he said.

The Chief Tourism Officer of RDB, Belise Kaliza, applauded this partnership in setting up such a facility for visitors.

“Rwanda’s aim is to build a country with great tourism experience. Having this lounge comes to complement the government initiative. It is a great place that will offer a good first impression of Rwanda to our visitors,” she said.

The Radisson Blu Hotel, Kigali is a five-star business hotel that hosts the first Convention Centre in Rwanda. With 291 modern rooms and Suites, six restaurants and Bars, Spa and Fitness facilities the hotel is conveniently located from Kigali International Airport and City Centre.

With room for up to 6,000 guests, Kigali Convention Centre features a selection of cutting-edge meeting rooms spanning over 32,000 m2. Located adjacent to the Radisson Blu Hotel, this iconic landmark offers 18 state-of-the-art meeting rooms, including an auditorium that can accommodate up to 3,000 guests.

A business centre, restaurant, bar, and an auditorium club along with a parking space for 650 vehicles making it a venue of choice for business meetings, exhibitions and special occasions.

Between July 2016 and 2019, this building hosted about 853 events with 320000 participants. They have won 23 international awards including the World Travel Awards (WTA)

Akagera Aviation started its operations in 2008, mainly doing helicopter charter flight operations, aerial photography & surveys, scenic flights, and HEMS. In 2013, Akagera Aviation services expanded to flight training and started ab-initio training of helicopter pilots. Akagera Aviation ATO is the only helicopter flying school in East Africa.
