UR was formed in 2013 to promote knowledge, research and discoveries with utmost commitment to take education standards higher towards academic excellence to address challenges affecting the community.
This College offers 13 Ph.D. programs and 21 Master’s Programs; all licensed by Rwanda’s Higher Education Council (HEC).
Masters and Ph.D. programs offer both theoretical and practical skills with extensive research depending on the specialization.
The Government of Rwanda established the college with the aim of building a strong foundation for the development of sciences and technology in Rwanda.
This college has played an important role in promoting science and technology both at national and international level where Rwanda is represented in different competitions.
The college has facilities facilitating students to study in a smooth environment additional to the presence of fully-fledged libraries and modern laboratories for technology. The college has expert lecturers with international repute.
The College of Sciences and Technology is a regional role model for its Center for Biodiversity, Center for Conservation and Natural Resources Management, African Centre of Excellence in Internet of Things, ACE IoT, African Centre of Excellence in Energy and Sustainable Development, and ICTP East African Institute for Fundamental Research where it offers degrees in Master’s and Ph.D. programs.

The college offers a Ph.D. program in IoT with Specialization in Wireless Intelligent Sensor Networking, Ph.D. in IoT with Specialization in Embedded Computing Systems, Ph.D. programs in the School of Sciences, Ph.D. by Research in Biology : (Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry).
They offer a Ph.D. program in Research in Chemistry: Organic Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry).
Also offered are; Ph.D. program in Research in Physics, PhD in Mathematics by Coursework and dissertation: (Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, & Statistics), PhD by Research in Physics, PhD programs in ICTP/EAIFR and PhD by Research in Physics (High Energy Physics, Condensed Matter Physics, Solid Earth Geophysics).

Payments have been made easier for students at the College of Education. Tuition fees ate deposited to accounts of the University of Rwanda at different banks.

The application to study at the University of Rwanda is completed through the university’s website www.ur.ac.rwand proceed through the Application Portal.
The application process requires an e-mail address, Identification or passport number for foreigners.
Courses are offered in English at the University of Rwanda.
The applicant must pay Rwf 10,000 non-refundable fees for Rwandans and East African students while foreigners have to pay Rwf 12,000.
