Football star Bakame, family survive road accident

Former Rayon Sports goalkeeper and captain, Eric Ndayishimiye aka Bakame, has survived a gruesome road accident.

Bakame was driving his wife and three children when he knocked a tree in Nyamata, Bugesera District, on Wednesday.

It is reported that he was trying to escape a pickup which almost collided with his car.

Now remaining without club after parting with Rayon Sports recently, the football star also served as goalkeeper and captain of the national team, Amavubi, for years.

IGIHE has learnt that the family of five is safe and recovering from its residence in Nyamata.

A friend of Bakame tells IGIHE that the five were admitted to Nyamata Hospital yesterday. Only the wife had serious injuries, others with minor injuries.

As club captain, Bakame earned Rayon Sports with Peace Cup in 2016, first league cup in 2017 and club’s historical qualification for Confederation Cup this year.
