{On March 18, 2018 on French radio France Inter, Natacha Polony, editorial director of french weekly magazine Marianne, once commented on the 1994 Genocide perpetrated against the Tutsi in Rwanda, considering that it had « nothing to do with a distinction between bad guys and good guys ». She added : « Unfortunately, we are in a kind of situation where we had bastards in front of bastards […] Which is to say, I think there was not the good guys on a side and the bad guys on the other side in this story. » She also explained that, when speaking of « bastards », she was not referring to the people but to the leaders. However, since January 2017, the french law on press freedom punishes anyone who outrageously denies, minimizes or makes banal the genocides recognized by France.
