Africa’s public debt has reached an estimated $1.9 trillion, putting pressure on governments to strengthen how they borrow, manage and report public finances as countries seek resources to fund development amid rising financing costs.

In Rwanda and across Africa, traditional ways of storing and transferring money through cash are gradually declining as more people adopt modern digital technologies for money transfers and payments, known as Instant Payment Systems (IPS).
