The 61 year old comedian, whose real name is Scott Christopher Thompson, was hospitalized on September 18 after an incident at his Las Vegas home.

According to a police incident report and court records reviewed by PEOPLE, Thompson had attempted to take his own life and was later found near his backyard pool after contacting a member of his team while distressed.

A source close to the performer told PEOPLE that Thompson is now home with his family and doing well.

His representative had previously said that he was recovering in hospital and receiving the care and support he needed, while asking the public to respect the privacy of Thompson and those close to him.

The comedian began performing stand up while attending Florida Atlantic University and later expanded his career into television and film. He has appeared on shows including Family Guy and Glee, and made a cameo in the television series Hacks in 2024.

His representative has thanked fans for their concern and support while emphasizing the family's request for privacy as Thompson continues his recovery.
