The ruling was read on 24th November 2022.
The National Public Prosecution says that the crime was committed on 8th October 2022 where they beheaded a man identified as Boaz Hakizimana.
The convicts include Jean Bosco Mbarushimana, Mathilde Uwigiramahoro, Isaac Munyeshara, Joel Dushimimana and Edouard Hagumiryayo.
The crime was committed in Muguruka Village, Rurenge Cell of Murama Sector in Ngoma District.
Hakizimana was killed after filing a case to community mediators (Abunzi) against his wife who had sold his farmland.
Since then, sources indicate, the accomplices started plotting the murder.
After beheading him, it is said that the convicts wrapped Hakizimana’s head in his clothes and dumped it in a river.
The five suspects were all found guilty and handed life sentence.
