Amb. Nduhungirehe presents credentials to represent Rwanda in Latvia

Ambassador Olivier Nduhungirehe has presented credentials to President Egils Levits of Latvia to represent Rwanda in the country.

After presenting credentials on Tuesday 11th January 2022, Amb. Nduhungirehe pledged to draw emphasis on strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation between Rwanda and Latvia.

“My focus will be to build a strong diplomatic and economic partnership between two countries, which have many things in common, despite the distance,” he said.

Amb. Nduhungirehe also represents Rwanda to countries including Netherlands, Estonia and Lithuania.

Schengen visa is required for a Rwandan travelling to Latvia which is valid for 90 days before expiry.

Current figures indicate that Latvian companies have exported goods (mainly grain and lighting materials) worth 800,000 Euros to Rwanda while imports from Rwanda have not exceeded 10,000 Euros since 2016.

The Republic of Latvia is small country situated in the Northeastern part of Europe.

It borders with Estonia in the North, Lithuania in the South, Russia in the East, Sweden in the West and Belarus in North-west.

Extended on the area of 64,589 km2 with 1.9 million population, Latvia is one of major manufacturers of machinery (domestic and industrial) at a low cost compared to most Western Europe.

Both countries reiterated commitment to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation.
The ceremony to present credentials took place on Tuesday 11th January 2022.
