The Ministry of Health Sunday, August 16, has announced 101 new COVID-19cases, including 80 detected in Kigali out of 4796 tests taken in the past 24 hours.

A statement from the Ministry says the new patients are from different parts of the country but most new cases are from Kigali, thus; nine from Rusizi, nine from Rubavu, two from Nyamasheke, and one from Huye.

The total number of COVID-19 in Rwanda is 2,453 out of 334,270 tests taken. There are 1648 recoveries, 797 active cases, and eight deaths.

In Kigali city, new cases are on the rise because, in just three days, 219 people mostly from the Nyarugenge and Mutangana market plus a few from the country’s ministries tested Covid-19 positive.

This is the second time in Rwanda that 101 people have been infected in one day, most recently on June 29, 2020.
