COVID-19: Rwanda records sixteen deaths, 496 new cases

The Ministry of Health has reported that sixteen people have succumbed to COVID-19 bringing the death toll to 996. The deceased include eight women and eight men.

The statement released last night shows that 496 people have caught the virus out of 11534 sample tests, eight recovered while 42 are critically ill.

A total of 969,734 people have been vaccinated since Rwanda began countrywide inoculation program on 5th March 2021.

Coronavirus symptoms include coughing, flu, and difficulty in breathing. The virus is said to be transmitted through the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.

Rwandans are urged to adhere to COVID-19 health guidelines, washing hands frequently using soaps and safe water, wearing face masks and respecting social distancing.
