Guinea’s President Doumbouya dissolves government, closes borders

The President of Guinea, Gen Mamady Doumbouya, announced the dissolution of the country’s government and the closure of its borders.

This announcement was made through national television, in a statement read by the President’s Secretary, Brig Gen Amara Camara. As of now, the reasons behind the dissolution of the government have not been disclosed.

According to BBC, members of the dissolved government were instructed to return state vehicles, hand in their work passports, and their bank accounts were to be closed.

President Doumbouya immediately ordered the closure of all borders until the members of the former government comply with the directives given.
