The deceased hail from Buremera village, Byinza cell. One died inside his house after collapsing while another way was washed away by flowing water.

The rain which started pouring down 7p.m lasted for nearly 30 minutes. It also destroyed infrastructures including classrooms, residents’ houses and crops among others.

Huye district has via Twitter handle revealed that officials visited Buremera village to comfort residents and assess ravaged following the incident.

Residents were urged to uphold the spirit of benevolence to support affected neighbors and accommodate them as they await new shelters.

The district is liaising with the Ministry of Emergency Management (MINEMA) to provide emergency assistance to disaster-hit residents.

Heavy rain has destroyed houses and ravaged crops among others.
