Despite the fact that the man pleaded guilty and asked for leniency, the court maintained the life sentence sought by the Prosecution considering the cruelty with which he killed his wife and related consequences to the community.

The ruling was read on 20th May 2022.

It is said that Havugiyaremye committed the crime in the night of 25th April 2022 around midnight in Kirambi Village, Gishihe Cell of Kigoma Sector in Huye District.

As the hearing began, the man said that he got is dispute with her wife after telling him that he was not the father of the baby in the womb.

As Havugiyaremye revealed, he woke up and took a small hoe which he hit on the head of the wife who died on the spot.

After committing the murder, the husband locked her body and his child inside the house and reported himself to the Police.
