Julienne Uwacu named Executive Director of Itorero and Culture Promotion

Julienne Uwacu, the former Minister of Sports, has been appointed as the Executive Director of Itorero and Culture Promotion within the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement (MINUBUMWE).

This appointment was officially announced during a cabinet meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

Uwacu has previously served in key positions, including Executive Director overseeing National Unity and Community Resilience at MINUBUMWE, as well as holding the position of Minister of Sports.

The cabinet’s announcements also included the appointment of Emmanuel Bugingo as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Zambia, set to succeed Rugira Amandin upon confirmation. Furthermore, James Ngago has been named as the new Ambassador of Rwanda to Switzerland and the United Nations in Geneva, taking over from Marie Chantal.

In a diplomatic reshuffle, Alison Heather Thorpe has been approved as the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom (UK) and Northern Ireland to Rwanda, succeeding Omar Daair. Lincoln Downer is confirmed as the Ambassador of Jamaica to Rwanda, and Tone Tinnes is approved as the Norwegian Ambassador to Rwanda, based in Dar es Salaam.

Additionally, Adelakin Olugbemiga has been confirmed as the Country Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Rwanda.

Julienne Uwacu has been named as the Executive Director of Itorero and Culture Promotion.
