Kagame delivered these remarks on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, during the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Gasore, who assumed the role of Minister of Infrastructure on Tuesday, replacing Dr. Ernest Nsabimana.
In his address, President Kagame expressed his gratitude towards Dr. Gasore for taking the oath and willingly accepting the new responsibilities bestowed upon him to serve his nation and Rwandans at large.
President Kagame went on to remind Dr. Gasore and other officials with leadership responsibilities that they must prioritize the interests of citizens over personal gains.
"My advise to him and others, including current cabinet members, is that serving the interests of citizens should always take precedence, even though personal gains cannot be entirely disregarded because everyone has the right to want to improve their standards of living. The primary focus is to serve the nation and its citizens, with individual interests being met collectively," he remarked.
Additionally, the President urged Dr. Gasore to concentrate on his duties and remain undeterred by discouragement or counterproductive ideas.
Kagame also urged the new minister not to waste time on individuals who provide unhelpful input; but rather execute his responsibilities in the manner they should be carried out.
The President also advised Dr. Gasore to stay dedicated to his job, avoid distractions, and ensure there are no rooms for unproductive employees.
Dr. Jimmy Gasore was named Minister of Infrastructure on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
He hails from Gishoma in the Rusizi District.
