Kagame visits Abu Dhabi

President Paul Kagame has visited Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he has been welcomed by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Rwanda’s Presidency has revealed that Kagame who arrived on Wednesday 15th June 2022, also met with Sheikh Mohamed BinZayed and presented his condolences for the passing of late President of the country, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The meeting also discussed the ongoing bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan died on 13th May 2022 at the age of 73.

He led the country since 2004. Sheikh Khalifa is remembered for his visionary leadership that saw the country gaining international repute.

On 28th April 2022, Kagame received Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan with whom they hold talks on existing areas of bilateral cooperation.

Meanwhile, President Kagame was last in UAE on 2nd October 2021.

At the time, he met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. He is the current President of UAE.

Rwanda and UAE enjoy existing relations and cooperation in different areas including education, investment, trade, tourism and air transport service.

Rwanda is among 192 countries that participated in Dubai Expo from 1st October 2021 to 31st March 2022. The country showcased its touristic attractions, development journey and made sales of Made in Rwanda products including agricultural produce.

President Kagame also met with the current President of UAE, Sheikh Mohamed BinZayed and presented his condolences for the passing of former President.
