The rain poured down on Tuesday 5th April 2022.
The executive secretary of Mugina Sector, Egide Jean Pierre Ndayisaba has told IGIHE that the properties were destroyed in the cells of Mbati and Runda.
“We have registered 33 houses, 46 latrines, 46 kitchens and four commercial buildings destroyed by the rain. Some houses have been totally destroyed while others can be renovated,” he noted.
The rain also ravaged crops including cassava, maize, soy and banana on 26 hectares.
Some of residents whose houses were destroyed are sheltered by neighbours while others have been helped to renovate houses.
Ndayisaba revealed that they have encouraged residents to tighten roofs to prevent further ravages.
He said that they are collaborating with the district, Ministry of Emergency Management and residents to support affected people.
