Kigoma sector in Nyanza district, Southern Province has officially inaugurated a new office building completed at the cost of Rwf265 million.

The sector has been operating in the buildings of Butansinda cell following disasters which destroyed former offices four years ago.

The one-storey block with 19 office rooms was inaugurated on Wednesday 25th August 2021.

The Executive Secretary of Kigoma sector, Brigitte Mukantaganda has revealed that new offices anticipate improved service delivery.

“It was uneasy to deliver good services while running operations in such a small cell office building. The newly completed offices come in handy to facilitate improved service delivery to residents,” she said.

Emertha Mukagasarabwe, one of residents expressed delight for the newly inaugurated decent administrative building.

“The former office was very small that five sector officials would be congested in one room. It is our pleasure to see the new ample office building completed and gives us optimism for improved services,” she said.

The mayor of Nyanza district, Erasme Ntazinda commended Kigoma sector officials for their dedication to attend to residents despite unfavorable working environment.

As she commented on sectors and cells still operating in dilapidated structures, the Governor of Southern Province Alice Kayitesi revealed plans to make renovations and build new offices where necessary to maintain improved service delivery.

“It is an ongoing activity. It requires enough resources but district officials are taking into account the issue to raise funds and gradually allocate part of annual budget to such activities,” she noted.

Kayitesi revealed that sectors including Kigoma in Nyanza and Rugarika in Kamonyi district were built in the last fiscal year as more districts continue to renovate sector and cell offices depending on available means.

Kigoma sector office has been completed at Rwf265 million.
