The incident took place in Gahabwa Village, Muyange Cell of Nyabitekeri Sector in Nyamasheke District on 6th June 2022.

Rutebuka who lived in a kitchen of his nephew worked as a night sentry sentinel for a resident and took care of his pigs in the daylight.

The old man with estranged relationship lived alone. His three wives died at different times and divorced with the fourth one over disputes.

Rutebuka died four days before reporting himself to Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) which had summoned him for interrogation.

Rutebuka was summoned following a case filed by his former wife who accused him of duping her to sell her farmlands so that they can get legally married.

The woman claimed that the man refused to get married legally after they had spent all the money.

The Executive Secretary of Nyabitekeri Sector, Aphrodis Mudahigwa has told IGIHE that security officials and RIB rushed to the scene after learning about the incident and took the body to Bushenge Hospital.

He urged residents to provide information on time so that people struggling with life can be counseled to foil their intentions of taking own lives.

The old man was buried in the evening of Sunday 7th August 2022 following an autopsy report.
