RDF Inter Force Competition wraps up

The RDF Inter Force Competition 2022-2023 concluded on Tuesday 31st January 2023 with a final football match between Republican Guard and Special Operations Force. The tournament was a curtain-raiser in celebrating National Heroes’ Day on 1st February 2023.

The Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Albert Murasira who was guest of honour was accompanied by the Minister of Youth and Culture, Rosemary Mbabazi, the Senior Presidential Advisor on security matters, Gen James Kabarebe, the RDF Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Jean Bosco Kazura and all service chiefs.

RDF officials and senior football officials also attended the final football match between the Republican Guard Unit and the Special Operations Force at Nyamata Stadium in Bugesera district.

Maj Gen Murasira emphasised the importance of the competition stressing the need to enhance physical fitness, cohesion, comradeship and morale among members of the RDF.

Republican Guard (RG) emerged winner of the final game with a score of 2 goals to 1 for the Special Operations Force (SOF).

The RDF Inter Force Competition 2022-2023 started at lower levels of RDF Units in November 2022 as men and women competed in several disciplines including football, basketball, volleyball, handball, netball, athletics and shooting.

RDF identifies talented individuals from this tournament who are selected to participate in international military competitions such as the East African Community Military Games, among others.

Republican Guard (RG) emerged winner of the final game with a score of 2 goals to 1 for the Special Operations Force (SOF).
The final match was played at Nyamata Stadium.
Minister Murasira was among dignitaries that graced the event.
