RIB probes two doctors over patient’s death

Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has arrested two doctors of Baho International Hospital (BIH) to be investigated over allegedly failing to give enough attention to a woman who died during a clinical surgery.

The duo includes a Gynecologist and Anesthesiologist.

It is said that the patient died as the duo performed a surgical procedure at the hospital.

Speaking to IGIHE, the Spokesperson of RIB, Dr. Thierry B. Murangira has confirmed their arrest noting that investigation is underway.

“It is true. RIB has arrested a Gynecologist and Anesthesiologist from Baho International Hospital. Their arrest is part of ongoing investigation into the death of a 54-year old woman who died on 9th September 2021,” he said.

The hospital’s management has condoled with the bereaved family and friends explaining that more details about circumstances of the woman’s death will be established following the ongoing investigation.

The hospital said that doctors tried their best to save her life but ended up in vain.

The body was taken to Kacyiru Hospital for postmortem.
